A 9in Plate made by Royal Doulton in their PROVERB Series Ware Golf Design. The plate shows 17Century Golfers in Costume. The Proverb above reads ALL FOOLS ARE NOT KNAVES, BUT ALL KNAVES ARE FOOLS.. The proverb and the Style of Golfer were taken from Charles Crombie who first used this design in 1905 for his Rules of Golf Perrier book. The plate has the Doulton mark to rear and the Design number D3395 for the 1930s. This plate has the normal age crazing to the glaze Perfect condition.
